ASTM A335 P5 Alloy Pipe Minimum Tempering Temperature
ASTM A335 P5 pipe, often referred to as P5 grade chrome molybdenum alloy pipe, because it contains 4.00% to 6.00% chromium and 0.45% to 0.65% molybdenum, which are key elements of alloy pipe and improve A335 P5 Oxidation and high temperature strength of the alloy tube, as well as better tensile strength (415MPa) and yield strength (205MPa), and have appropriate hardness at room temperature. A335 P5 grade seamless pipe can be used in high temperature and corrosive environments.
The ASTM A335 standard requires that all grades of pipe, except grades P5C, P23, P91, P92, P122, and P911, be reheated and supplied in the fully annealed, isothermally annealed, or normalized and tempered condition. If supplied in normalized and tempered condition, the minimum tempering temperature shall be 675°C for grades P5, P5B, P9, P21 and P22 and 675°C for grades P1, P2, P11, P12 and P15. Fire temperature should be 650°C
